Zayda
January 11, 2012 - March 12, 2021
Today we had to say goodbye to our Queen Fur Baby Zayda.
It's so hard to put into words, what she meant to us. Who she was to us. And it's hard to understand, if you've never owned a fur baby...and loved a fur baby with the ultimate unconditional love like we do, what the loss feels like. It truly is like losing a piece of your soul.
She was so good. Like SO good. The best. Just over 9 years ago, she was found in a basement of an abandoned home in the inner city, with a broken leg and a t-shirt wrapped around her that said "ooo la- la" on it....that's actually the name the Humane Society gave her until we adopted her. She was terrified of everything initially and slowly as time went on and as we loved her and brought her safety, she opened up. She was Jack's best friend, he was hers. She'd chase after him when he ran, nibbling at his ankles. Man did they love eachother. She was always concerned about where Syd was, what she was up to and whether or not she was safe. Zayda and Kaedence grew a special bond as well, Zayda just loved her to bits. She would do anything to protect the kids. She was our first family fur baby. She was THE BEST cuddler. And she had a bazillion nicknames...Zayda Potata, Baby Girl, Potato, Potato Bug, Baby Love Bug, Sweet Girl, Peanut, Lady Love Bug Bagels. She LOVED food...I know all dogs love food, but this girl, she'd do anything for a baby carrot. Coconut oil was also one of her favorites...you couldn't put it on your skin without her magically appearing and trying to lick your skin off. Literally the only thing she didn't like in the 9 years we had her, was spinach. So funny. She has always hated getting her picture taken... it's always taken a trillion tries to get her to look at the camera but luckily we've gotten some good ones. She loved saying hello to people...with an aggressive bark sometimes lol...but she always meant well. Her and her fur bros loved eachother...I mean, her and Wallace were like the annoying angry teenage siblings with eachother sometimes, but they loved eachother. Her and Bean...inseparable. attached at the hip. Where Zayda goes, Bean goes. Her lil nub tail was the best, we would always giggle about how it was always wiggling...you'd say anything and that lil thing wiggled. Just adorable. She comforted us on days when all we could do was cry, she gave us kisses and told us it would be okay...and for some reason, we knew it would because of that love you could just feel radiating from her.
She had a lineup of fans who asked to say their goodbyes, she was a rockstar. Thanks so much to everyone who popped by, to everyone who has been here for us and shown love and support through texts and phone calls as well. A HUGE thank you goes to Dr. Liz from Sunset Veterinary Care who came to our home to help us say goodbye to Zayda so that her brothers Wallace and Bean could find some closure, and so we could all be together. Thank you B for letting me know about her xo- this made things a million times easier for us. Another special thank you goes to Kaedence. This incredible girl recorded Zayda's heartbeat for us in a special gift that we will forever have and hold close to our hearts. Thanks to Jason's co-workers who sent Jason home with a special gift for us as well.
For now, our hearts are broken. We'll miss her so much, and we'll never stop missing her. Rest in peace my sweet baby girl, have fun in doggy paradise 💗
