Scooby

Scooby was the best dog any family could have wished for. We got Scooby in the spring of 2009 when I was 8 years old. My mom saw him for sale on Kijiji and said ‘he looks cute’. Just like that he was ours without knowing anything else about him. My parents decided to surprise me with a furry sibling as I am an only child. Scooby and I grew up together. He was my best friend and my brother. Despite his ferocious sounding bark he was a big sweetheart. Scooby was always there to pick me up when I was down even if he was not a big cuddler. Like his namesake, the way to his heart was through his stomach and he would lead me to the treat closet when he thought I was sad.

Scooby was also very close to both my parents. He enjoyed his long twice daily walks with Dad (and the amount of food that somehow slipped into his mouth). And he always made sure to join my mom for lunch and for afternoon snacks in the backyard.

Scooby’s presence made every moment extra special and we will all miss him everyday. Although we are heartbroken to have lost him we take comfort in the fact that he is no longer in pain.
