Tempy
2010 - 2024
Born as the runt in her litter, Tempy stole her human Momma's heart from the beginning with her feisty ways. Being an "only child," Tempy grew to mistrust most dogs but loved all humans; except those that breached the perimeter of any car she rode in. This would include gas station attendants, drive-thru staff, even pedestrians at cross walks. She also could not abide windshield wipers and low bridges :) Tempy grew to be playful and quirky.
When she and her Momma joined the household of her doggo Grandparents and doggo Auntie, Tempy found her tribe! Momma and Tempy found wide open fields for chuckerball. Grandpa was her fave for walks and car adventures and more chucker. Auntie was the best for games of tug-o-war and zoomies in the yard or in the house. And Grandma was best for snuggling on the couch and some healthy treats in the kitchen.
Tempy was so well behaved at home on her little bed that we did not worry about separation anxiety or trashing of the house, but she did occasionally let her sweet curiosity or her food motivation get the better of her to climb chairs onto the dining room table to watch the street or to scope out if any food was left there. And her food motivation could show in more subtle ways; a car trip, a bag of Egg McMuffins and a surgical strike to remove only one with no evidence.
We were privileged to enjoy her sweet company for 14 years and she only began to slow down in the past 6 months. From slowing down to an obvious decline and pain, we had to make the difficult decision to help her leave us in a quiet, dignified, gentle way. On advice from Tempy's Aunt that works in the vet industry, we reached out to Nicole at SVC to start the planning. Dr Rita McKay came to our home on a bright sunny day and was so kind, so filled with empathy and gentle in her approach to Tempy and to our family as we surrounded her as she passed. It was difficult, heart-breaking and beautiful all at the same time. We thank Sunset Vet Care for helping us with this transition and for care and dignity they gave to our beloved Tempy.
