Romeo Poodle Hudson

You came into our lives at the tender age of 4, already named, and already set in your ways like the old man you always were. No one could have ever guessed that 5 pounds of poodle could pack in so much personality. We never would have called you Romeo, and yet, Romeo you were, and Romeo was the perfect name for you.

You would lay side by side with your poodle sister Martha, while clearly just stealing her warmth. You definitely weren’t cuddling her. You would steal our pillows at night, and we would wonder why our necks were so stiff in the morning. You would snore loud enough to wake yourself up.

You were our “old faithful,” peeing without fail every single time we took you outside. Rain or shine, snow or sleet, driving winds or blizzards.

Later known to your youngest sister as “RaRa,” and then “Romeoaks,” and finally “The Spotted One,” you were always so patient with kids, and they loved you (even though you were clearly over it).

You lived in 5 different houses. You flew countless times across the country in your tiny purple poodle carrier. You refused to pee at 4 different airports because the grass wasn’t real. You even got to ride the Harbour Hippo in Charlottetown, PEI while chaperoning your parents’ honeymoon.

There’s an empty place in our bed where you used to snore so loudly, but we’ll never forget you and the love you brought into our lives.

See you in the sky buddy. We love you.

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Andree and the team at Sunset for their wonderful care of our boy in his final days.
