Lopez

2004-2022

Weeks shy of his 18th birthday, Lopez gently crossed the bridge surrounded by love, joining forever foster Jessie and angel-brother Cody.

Born on a farm in southern Manitoba where he was not treated well for having been born with one eye, Lopez was rescued by a neighbour who took him to the Winnipeg Humane Society asking them to find him a good home in the city, as farm life was not meant for him. I found him there months later, already named Lopez.

Lopez was incredibly intelligent and friendly, bringing joy to all. He loved flyball and earned several titled during his career in his younger years. Lopez was also a trusted companion, playmate and teacher to 12 foster dogs over the years, eventually becoming a forever foster brother for 3 years to older gal Jessie, serving as her hearing guide dog until her passing five years ago. In his golden years, Lopez was very happy that I worked from home during the pandemic lockdowns. Lopez was an exceptionally resilient dog who adjusted extremely well to the changes of aging over the years. But more recently, the bad days started to outnumber the good and I knew it was time to let him cross the bridge.

That’ll do, my friend. You can rest easy now. I miss you so much already.
