Harley
July, 15 2006 - June, 19 2023
Harley became part of our family just after my dad passed away in 2006, and from the day we got him...he definitely was my dog! I spoiled him by carrying him around all the time, as he was so little when he was born. Harley was a fiesty little guy for only being 4.5 lbs but he had the cutest little face that we just couldn't resist. Harley would sleep on the bed, and there were times he would bite at the sheets where your foot was if you woke him up while he was sleeping. Harley had so much energy and could run after the ball for what seemed like hours and never get tired of it.
One of his favorite places and where he could relax the most was at our trailer. Harley would lay in his bed in the sun the whole day. As Harley got older he lost his sight and hearing and it was hard to play ball anymore. All he wanted to do in the last couple of years was lay beside me on the chair or sleep in his bed in my "at home" office. It was nice to be at home with him all day during the covid pandemic.
As time went on I asked the vet once when Harley wasn't feeling well "how will I know when he is in pain or when he is just too tired to go on". The vet told me that he will let you know. On the weekend of June 18th we knew it was time and Harley was letting us know. It was probably one of the hardest things we have had to do but with assistance of Dr. Rita of Sunset Vet it was the most gentle end of life care we could ask for. We would never have been able to do it in an office setting as we wanted to hold him, talk to him and say goodbye in our own home. Thank you Dr.Rita for helping me send our little Harley to heaven in a gentle and dignified way.
We will miss you Harley but you will always be in our hearts forever.❤️
