Goosey
2009 - 2025
We met our sweet girl, Lucy (originally named Jiminey by the lovely folks at D'arcy's Arc) aka Lucy Goosey aka Goose aka Goosey on our second trip to D'arcy's Arc after bringing home one of her NINE siblings, Kate, the week prior. We felt Kate needed a buddy and who better than her scrappy, saucer eyed little sister. She stole our hearts with her deer in headlights sweet round little face and giant eyes. It took some time for Kate to get on board with having another cute kitty to compete with for attention but soon enough they settled back into each other's company and became best buds.
Goosey was a quiet kitten for many years so when she did say something, we were over the moon to hear her wee squeaks. She was an agile and brave little soul who jumped up to the top of my bedroom wardrobe, leaped on top of the fridge to hang with the cereal boxes and even jumped up to turn off my bedroom light switch!
As years carried on she was still so kitten like and loved to dash through tunnels that her Poppa made, monkey under the ottoman with Poppa flopping her and flipping her around and running zoomies with Kate up and down the stairs. She also loved to bury her face as deep into Kate's body as she could while snugged up in front of the heat vents. She wasn't into being held for too long but it was such a treat when she let me make her a baby in my arms. She loved when Poppa got home from work because that was TUNA TIME and her bouncy, swirly prance to get to her dish was a magical moment to watch every single time.
She was the softest kitten that ever was. She was made of soft. She was such a good baby. Our baby granny. The 15 years we were a family have been such a gift every single day. Goose was tiny and wee and sweet and silly and the mark she's left is in our home and our hearts forever.
Thank you so much to the foster Mom who first cared for Goose and her nine siblings after being rescued from Norther Manitoba in 2009. Thank you so D'arcy's Arc for being her home until we were so lucky to meet her and her sister, Kate. Thank you to Dr. Betts, Dr. Williams, Dr. Dyck and the team of vet folks at St. Vital Veterinary Hospital who cared for her over these past 15 years. And finally thank you to Dr. Rita and the team at Sunset Vet Care for helping us honour our Goosey's last moments and gently let her go over the rainbow bridge. It was a painful and heartbreaking day but we are beyond grateful to have been by her side right up to the last beat of her sweet heart.
GOOSEY!! DOO DOO!! Baboo. Gooseeeeey. Goosling! Goodbye, sweet girl <3
