Jackie (Captain Jack Sparrow)

June 4, 2006 - February 4, 2025

Our own Captain Jack Sparrow, who came to us in July of 2006 as a tiny, scruffy, feisty pirate kitten and grew into a magnificent, strong, calm and loving presence in our family, has made her way to the Rainbow Bridge to be reunited with, and carry our love to, her forever pack-mates waiting there.

Jackie was always happy to welcome a new kitten or puppy into our home, and we know that if she had had kittens of her own, she would have been an excellent mother. The most memorable things about Jackie and her life were not in mischief or adventures, but in her steady demeanor, and over the last 5 years, her stoic and courageous battle with kidney disease, hyperthyroidism and arthritis. Fiercely independent, Jack did not like to be picked up and fussed over by her human guardians. All affection and attention had to be on her terms, but when she chose to love you, you knew you were loved.

As a younger lady, often chilly in the winter in spite of her luxurious jet black hair coat and numerous cozy beds, she tolerated wearing a knitted pink sweater. In her dotage, and right to her final days when she was “feathers and bone”, she eschewed any type of blanket and stuck steadfastly to her best friend Casey for warmth and comfort. We miss you Jack. You were our last link to our original pack, and you did yourself proud!

Our family has been honored and privileged to be your guardians for 18 years and 8 months. Trot free now Jackie, silky hair rippling in the warm breeze, belly flap swinging, soft grass beneath your tiny paws.

You are in our hearts forever.

And one day, we will see you at The Bridge.
