“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” A.A. Milne
In January of 2024 we said goodbye to our sweet orange cat, Andrew. Andrew had a long, full life and we were so privileged to be able to be by his side for 20 years. He was reserved around those he did not know, but incredibly affectionate and loving once he knew you well enough. He loved to sit as close as possible, crawling right up to necks and shoulders to be face-to-face. He was active and playful throughout all his life. He enjoyed his various store-bought toys but even more so, adored chasing bits of string, paperclips, and of course, small bits of tin foil. We were continuously surprised to find him curling up in new spots around the house that he discovered, and he was always happy to have a human curl up next to him and give him pats. He loved cat treats, the occasional bit of tuna, and he would frequently refuse to drink water out of anything other than his favourite mug on the coffee table or nightstand.
Every day we miss our dear companion - his tiny mews, the pitter-patter of his paws, his keen interest in squirrels and birds outside the window. He was blessed with good health all his life, until he developed kidney disease as a senior cat. We shared so many special moments with him, and we will always remember the bond he shared with us. We will love him forever.
